MVMANT launches its pilot phase in partnership with Mercedes-Benz
March 18, 2016
MVMANT is the application developed through the EU financed project “Social Commuting eXperience Platform”, which received funding under the EU FP7 frontierCities Accelerator Programme, aiming at promoting the uptake of FIWARE technologies among SMEs and Start-ups.
MVMANT is a new urban mobility real-time, on-demand solution. Its platform enables a new type of shared transport, which surpasses the collective taxi model and delivers an ideal synthesis of buses and taxis services. A fleet of cars running along fixed routes will be able to offer users the speed and coverage comparable to that of taxis. The MVMANT app will also allow users to book and pay for a place in a vehicle via their smartphones, while showing the estimated waiting time.
The MVMANT platform will undergo a pilot test for three weeks, starting on April 18, in Ragusa (Italy) with the technical sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Vans, which will provide for the testing its whole range of vehicles, representing different mobility solutions: from the Sprinter and Vito commercial vans, to the panel van-mini MPV Citan and the MPV class V.
The Catania based start-up Edisonweb has already received letters of interests from the Berlin Agency for Electromobility eMO to support a second MVMANT pilot in the city of Berlin, and from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai. The fast growing metropolis of 3.5 million inhabitants is firmly engaged in Smart City strategies, such as micro-busses solutions, and is interested in following closely the MVMANT project and testing phase to study opportunities for the development of Dubai public mobility service.
