Accelogress is one of the four rewarded start-up companies by the UK government’s innovations agency “Innovate UK” with £35,000 for the “IC Tomorrow – Urban Spaces Contest”, to trail their “Save-a space” app in the city of Birmingham. The Save-a-Space app introduces a cloud-based mobile marketplace for bookable and real-time parking spaces that optimises parking management for parking operators and the experience for town visitors. Thanks to the app, drivers can conveniently find the most suitable and available parking space while on route into town, based on their personal preferences, saving them time and stress. Using FIWARE Save-a-Space has been developed by Accelogress, thanks to the EU frontierCities Accelerator Programme and is already trailing in Guildford (UK) The four selected start-ups presented a prestigious panel of judges the different mobility solutions developed for the specific briefs set by Transport for London (TfL), West Midlands’ public transport delivery body Centro, outdoor advertising company Clear Channel Outdoor and engineering group Atkins. Accelogress, which is currently trialling its prototype app in Guildford (UK), will soon begin a second testing in Birmingham, providing a solution to the problem posed by Centro of commuters missing trains because of car park queues. Save-a-Space will not only help drivers to find parking spaces but will also to reduce traffic and importantly CO2 emissions and contribute to efficiently manage the predicted increase in car traffic over the coming years.
