PROJECT: Special Educational Needs or Disabilities Transport Optimisation (SEND-TO)
COMPANY: Esoterix Systems Ltd
SEND-TO aims to cut the cost of providing routes for Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) transport whilst improving students safety.
QRoutes is a cloud-based planning tool for shared transport that takes students to school, according to their individual needs.
It consists of an advanced GIS map based visualization and planning tool and an automated Routing Engine to quickly provide solutions for individuals’ schools or groups of schools. It is quick and easy to implement, interfacing with existing systems and data sets rather than requiring the upheaval of replacement.
QTracker enables transport operators to manage specific bookings, send these out to vehicles and monitor the status and progress of routes being driven.
QRoutes has been so far adopted by Kent County Council (who estimated that its use will save them £1.5m per annum) and more recently by Bedford Borough Council.
The customers’ trial to test the end-to-end system (QRoutes - QTracker combined) will be conducted with Hurstpierpointn school in West Sussex (UK) in September 2016. In-vehicle units have been obtained from Frotcom and include a smartcard reader (for the students’ school cards) and a Garmin Satellite Navigation Unit for the driver.
